Aussie Tallow Featured in Ripe Magazine – Farm-Made Skincare from Western Australia
We're absolutely delighted to share that Aussie Tallow has been featured across two pages of Ripe magazine, published with Farm Weekly, in an article titled “Farm-made nourishing skincare”, written by journalist April Hancock.
The feature shares the story behind Aussie Tallow, from transforming a former blue gum plantation into a thriving family farm to creating a growing Australian skincare business specialising in handcrafted, farm-made tallow skincare.
Based in Mount Barker, in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, Aussie Tallow is built around a passion for natural ingredients, traditional skincare methods and genuine farm-to-product production.
Our story began in 2012, when Aussie Tallow founder Samantha Steed purchased a former blue gum plantation with a dream of creating her own farm.
Over the years, the property was gradually transformed into productive farmland, becoming home to our much-loved Jersey cows and Wiltshire Horn sheep.
What started as a personal passion for natural living, soapmaking and traditional skincare ingredients eventually developed into Aussie Tallow.
Today, our family farm is not only home to our animals but also the place where our skincare products are carefully handcrafted.
One of the things that makes Aussie Tallow different is our hands-on approach to production.
Unlike skincare businesses that purchase ready-rendered tallow, we render our own beef suet directly on the farm, allowing us to maintain control over the quality and preparation of this important ingredient.
Our signature tallow creams contain approximately 75% tallow and are never whipped with air, creating rich, concentrated formulations.
We also produce handcrafted raw Jersey milk and tallow soaps using milk from our own Jersey cows, alongside a growing range of natural skincare and personal care products.
From rendering our tallow to making, packaging and preparing our products, our dedicated farm workshop is at the heart of Aussie Tallow.
The Ripe magazine feature highlights how Aussie Tallow has grown from a personal interest into an established Australian skincare business.
With more than 50,000 products sold and hundreds of five-star customer reviews, Aussie Tallow continues to reach customers across Australia.
Our products are also available through a growing network of retail stockists throughout Western Australia's Great Southern and Southwest regions.
Despite this growth, our commitment remains unchanged: to create quality skincare using carefully selected ingredients while maintaining a genuine connection to the farm and the production process.
The magazine feature also celebrates Samantha's recognition as a shortlisted finalist for Female Farmer of the Year at the 2026 Great Southern Farmer of the Year Awards.
This recognition reflects years of dedication to farming, innovation, entrepreneurship and building a business while raising a family.
Being recognised within the agricultural community was an incredibly meaningful milestone in the Aussie Tallow journey.
We're grateful to journalist April Hancock and the team at Ripe magazine and Farm Weekly for taking the time to share our story.
